Fox Island Autumn Engagement Session // Josie + Joe

Fox Island Autumn Engagement Session // Josie + Joe

They shared a mutual friend and would occasionally cross paths in the years of high school. They never paid each other any mind, and went on to acquire college degrees and careers before they happened to be at the "You're Welcome" (post-Thanksgiving party) one night.  It was then that Josie saw Joe across the room. In that instant, her heart skipped a beat when she saw what she describes as "a tall drink of water."

Immediately, she was determined to go on a date with the man whose smile lit up the room and whose laugh came from deep inside his soul. At the end of the evening when she saw him pick up his coat to leave, she lurked and made awkward conversation. Finally, after what seemed like a lifetime, Joe asked for her number.

A few days later, they met up for beers and a concert at one of the local venues. They instantly bonded over their love of fun, adventure, and all things that involve laughter. It wasn't long after that both Josie and Joe knew that this was a relationship for the long haul. They'll be married in one short month, in the cool January afternoon surrounded by the family and friends that have joyfully shared this journey with them. Josie and Joe, spending the evening with you made me a million times more excited for your wedding, and I'm counting down the days! See you in just a short month! xx, M

Chattanooga Tennessee Elopement // Brook + Allen

Chattanooga Tennessee Elopement // Brook + Allen

They met in a quiet sort of way. It was unexpected - almost total happenstance. She had just purchased her dream car and was searching for someone who could educate her in rally racing and guide her in the right direction. A friend connected her with the right guy, and on a whim and a gut feeling, she met an almost complete stranger at his house to talk shop. It wasn't long until Brook realized that he was more than just the right car guy - he was the right guy in every other way, shape, or form.

Hours after the initial introduction, they found themselves still talking. Not just about cars, but about life, dreams, and the adventures they hoped to have. Brook knew that Allen was the one just as quick as Allen had stepped into her life.  The feeling was mutual, and they found themselves making the dreams and adventures that had always sat in their heart a reality. They're personalities were matched in laughter, a no-nonsense approach to life, and the craving of adventure and something more.

In true Brook and Allen fashion, they knew that they wanted to celebrate their engagement and marriage in a quiet, simple way. After Allen had slipped the ring on Brook's finger, they celebrated, just the two of them, for a few weeks until they were ready to announce the decision that would change their life. They knew that they wanted their union in marriage to be the same- no fluff, no fuss - just them. On a breezy autumn weekend, they escaped to the mountains of Tennessee with a freshly inked marriage license in hand and only a few family members knowing that they had tied the knot. They spent the long weekend as husband and wife, hiking the trails of Chattanooga, Tennessee, exploring waterfalls, cliffs, and caves that were all brightly painted with the autumn colors.

Brook and Allen, spending the weekend with you in the mountains was such an incredible way to cap of 2017 and I cannot thank you enough for allowing me to witness the magical love you two share and letting me spend the first few days of marriage with you. I can't wait to see the adventures you two create with your life. xx, M

Downtown Fort Wayne Autumn Engagement // Tifani + Blake

Downtown Fort Wayne Autumn Engagement // Tifani + Blake

They were introduced through mutual friends on a night that Tifani came into town to visit. The evening was spent with light conversation and laughter, but little did they realize that as they went their separate ways, the end of the evening was the start of the rest of their lives together. As Tifani made the trek home, Blake was still on her mind.

They started talking and soon after, visited each other again. In true Hoosier style, Blake insisted on giving Tifani a tour of Fort Wayne and took her to the best martini bar in town. After years of long distance and job changes so they could be together, years of moving, buying houses, and establishing an unbreakable relationship, Blake took Tifani back to that martini bar. This time, he held a ring and a question that Tifani had been waiting to hear since that first night they met.

They'll be married next August up in Michigan surrounded by friends and family. They celebrated their engagement by strolling the city they now call home, Fort Wayne, with their dog, Belle, alongside them. Tifani and Blake, it was so fun spending a Friday evening with the two of you and I can't wait to see what life has in store for you! All the best, M

Downtown Fort Wayne Engagement Session // Alex + Greg

Downtown Fort Wayne Engagement Session // Alex + Greg

It was her cardinal rule that she would never talk to someone that didn't have a bio written on the dating app. If they couldn't bother to write out a few sentences, how dateable could they really be? But when her phone lit up and she saw Greg, something in her gut told her to make an exception. Once they started talking, she knew her gut had been right. Greg was devoted, funny, and made even the darkest circumstances so much brighter. It wasn't shortly after their first date, where light conversation turned into deep, unending connection that both Alex and Greg mutually knew that they had found the one.

On a cold winter's day on the ice rink, Alex could sense something was up. Additional family had followed along on what was originally supposed to be a date. Once again, her instinct was right, and Greg got down onto one knee among the Christmas lights and onlookers. Alex screamed yes, and they immediately started dreaming up their dream wedding for next October. Alex and Greg, you two are the biggest troopers and totally rocked your session on the yuckiest day of October! Fingers crossed that your October wedding date is full of sunshine, and I'm counting down the days! xx, M

Chicago Autumn Engagement Session // Kristin + Brandon

They called it an instant connection. From the moment they first met at work, something between them was magnetic - a palpable energy. The story of how they first flamed the spark is different depending on who you ask. Kristin claims that Brandon knew that nobody would show up to the work event that he had invited her too, and Brandon claims it was a happy accident. Nevertheless, whether it was intentional or fate, they found themselves captivated in an endless conversation and banter underneath the restaurant lights one evening. Since that night seven years earlier, their conversation has never really ceased.

Their jobs sent them traveling across the country, sometimes in opposite directions. Even when they were hundreds of miles a part they poured their heart and soul into making their relationship work. Late night Skype chats, long weekend drives, and constantly job searching so they could be closer to each other, Kristin and Brandon have made it work.

They'll be married next spring on the outskirts of Chicago where Kristin grew up. Finally, after a seven year marathon, they'll be husband and wife. We thought it was only appropriate to explore Chicago where their relationship blossomed and in a city that holds their heart. Kristin and Brandon, thank you for braving the early morning, cold, and rain with me! Our few hours spent together makes me so excited to spend your wedding day with you and document once again what an incredible and fun couple you are! Counting down, xx - M

Midwest Autumn Engagement Session // Kayla + Scott

Something about Scott told her that maybe, just maybe, he might be the right match for her sister. Hannah gave Scott her sister's number and Scott immediately started texting Kayla. Texting led to a blind date, where light conversation turned into hours of deep connection. Much to Kayla's sisters delight, they decided to pursue their romantic inclination.

They spent the next four years by each other side- Scott is goofy and nerdy with a childlike wonder of the world and fiercely lives to protect and love Kayla. Kayla is a bit more serious, caring and calm, and only Scott can make her laugh with her whole body. They share the greatest sense of comfortability and love for one another. Much to Kayla's surprise, Scott proposed on their fourth-year anniversary, a few years earlier than expected, with a ring he designed himself.

They'll be married next spring under the soft blooms of the cherry trees and in the midst of the whirlwind of school semester breaks, amongst the family, friends, and proud sister that have watched them share this journey together. Kayla and Scott, it was so incredibly fun spending the evening with you and thank you for dealing with my crazy dog, tall weeds and chilly autumn air! Counting down! xx - M

Fort Wayne Autumn Engagement Session // Lauren + Matt

They bonded immediately over social events, craft beers, traveling, long walks, and their love of everything Notre Dame. Matt was first drawn to her smile, but after their first true meeting, he was swept off his feet by how intelligent and funny she was. Lauren had this palpable energy that seemed to light up any room and warm all the people around her, but it was her passion for anything she set her mind too that immediately drew him in.

Lauren was instantly connected to Matt's undying support, no matter the situation. Whatever she dreamed, whatever she set her mind too, Matt was there by her side cheering her on, and Lauren did the same for Matt. They both attribute their steadfastness to making it through long distance and completely opposite work schedules through their years of dating - from Skype dates, to long weekend drives, to making sure the other person felt loved even when they weren't in the same city, Lauren and Matt poured their heart and soul into their instant connection, making it transform into a relationship that would last a lifetime.

On a warm summer day, in the middle of Lauren's favorite winery, there stood Matt with a ring in hand. Much to Lauren's surprise, their closest family and friends were peeking through the winery windows, anxiously waiting to celebrate their new chapter of life. They'll be married next summer surrounded by the same family and friends that have supported them all along the way. Lauren and Matt, you two are such bright souls and I loved spending a few hours with you and watching how you build each other up and love each other so deeply.  I cannot wait until next year! xx, M

Elegant and Timeless Wedding at Baker Street Train Station // Kali + Jon

Elegant and Timeless Wedding at Baker Street Train Station // Kali + Jon

She was in need of a creative outlet to reconnect her to to human nature in the midst of the rigorous and dry courses that were the norm as a biology major. After signing up for a British Literature course to fulfill her creative needs, she couldn’t help but notice the broad shouldered English major who donned glasses and a thirst for literature and learning. Both Kali and Jon immediately took interest in each other, but neither wanted to seem over exuberant. Jon spent the course citing of witty and intelligent comments hoping that Kali would turn around and notice him, while Kali spent the time hoping that her interest wouldn’t be too apparent when they were paired up for group work.

Finally, after months of quiet interest, a mutual friend decided to come to their aid and give them a final push towards a first date. Under the lights of the coffee shop on campus, they spent hours and hours talking about their passions and dreams. When the clock struck midnight and the coffee shop locked the doors, both Kali and Jon knew - this was going to be different. They spent the next five years supporting each other’s educations, travels, and careers. From days spent having intellectual conversations over tea, wrapped up in blankets to mask the chill of winter, to months spent apart as they juggled long-distance, Kali and Jon supported each other through it all.

On a chilly fall day they reunited with family in Kali’s hometown to become husband and wife. In true Kali and Jon fashion, they strived to have every moment of their wedding day touched by the ones they loved. From Jon’s great-grandmother’s wedding ring that sat on Kali’s finger, now her own, to family heirloom jewelry that donned both Jon and Kali, to small decor details designed by their closest friends, loved ones were ingrained in every portion of their story.

Kali and Jon, being a part of your day and witnessing how incredible of an impact you have made on each other’s lives and the story you hold in your hearts was the greatest privilege and honor. I can’t wait to see where your life together takes you and I wish you all the best, xx- M

Eagle Marsh Sunrise Engagement // Kaitlynn + Steven

Eagle Marsh Sunrise Engagement // Kaitlynn + Steven

He was stubborn, blunt, and a little rough around the edges while she was sweet, a little quiet, and laid-back. They were just coworkers that happened to share the same shift. Never in a million years, Kaitlynn thought, would this man ever be more than a friendly colleague. Time passed, more shifts were shared, and Katilynn and Steven started talking. Even though Steven and Kaitlynn were different in every imaginable way, opposites attract, and so did Kaitlynn and Steven’s hearts.

They both shared adventurous and fearless souls - the type of souls that would be ready to tackle any sort of challenge that headed their way. Hand in hand, they tackled life head on and spent the next three years building a foundation for the rest of their lives to build on. And in true fearless fashion, when it came time to ask Kaitlynn to be his wife, Steven bought a ring and brought it with him on their first skydiving experience. They floated through the air and adrenaline rushed through their veins,  and when they landed, Kaitlynn gasped for air as Steven immediately dropped to his knee and asked her to be his wife.

Kaitlynn and Steven, thank you x a million for braving the autumn chill and early morning with me! I have to say it was well worth it and so much fun spending the morning with you! Counting down until next spring - xx, M

Midwest Autumn Field Engagement Session // Ariel + Derrick

Midwest Autumn Field Engagement Session // Ariel + Derrick

It was under the Friday night football stadium lights that he first noticed the blonde girl with the bubbly laugh. She was lost in conversation with her friend but he was determined to insert himself into the dialogue. His efforts were momentarily lost, as Ariel seemed to pay no attention to Derrick and left mid-game. But Derrick is the guy who knows what he wants and goes after it, so he immediately coaxed Ariel's friend to give him Ariel's number and started up a text conversation. When he requested a date, Ariel initially turned him down. Derrick kept pushing- there was something about her that made him never want to give up.

After almost a year of maintaining a steady friendship, Ariel decided it was time. Their friendship blossomed into a relationship and they started experiencing life together hand and hand. Between high school graduation, planning their futures, and dreaming big dreams, they started to revolve their world around one another. After a few years had passed - even though Derrick initially thought he would propose in an additional year or two- suddenly Derrick knew...it was time. One summer morning it just felt right and after asking her parents permission and buying a ring, he proposed at a restaurant that overlooked the lake at sunset, surrounded by their closest family.

They'll be married next summer with family and friends witnessing the incredible day that Ariel and Derrick are planning. Since they both grew up in a small town amongst the Indiana fields and crops, we thought it was only fitting that we explore their friends property and soak in the autumn evening. Ariel and Derrick, spending the evening with you was so fun and it makes me so insanely excited to document your day next summer! xx, M

Elegant Autumn Wedding at Empyrean Events // Shelby + Stephen

Elegant Autumn Wedding at Empyrean Events // Shelby + Stephen

Pictures surrounded the homes and reception of their prom night, travels, family holidays, their cats, adventures, the proposal, and their engagement. While this was the day that they would promise to spend the rest of their lives by each others side, it was clear to every wedding guest that Shelby and Stephen had already built the most magical life together.

Everywhere you turned on the wedding day, family and friends were reminiscing and recounting stories about Stephen's humor or Shelby's laid-back and slightly serious personality. Everyone said the same thing - Shelby and Stephen were complete opposites but in the best way. They balance each other out and keep each other grounded. Even on a day that is normally associated with chaos and stress, they took the time to pull each other back into the moment and enjoy their first day as husband and wife to the fullest.

Shelby and Stephen, your day was so full of joy, love, and gorgeous fall color and I am so honored to have had the privilege of documenting your first day as husband and wife. You both have the deepest hearts and kindest souls and I cannot wait to see where life takes you! xx, M

Chain O'Lakes Engagement Session // Tyler + Kyrie

Chain O'Lakes Engagement Session // Tyler + Kyrie

They first crossed paths during freshman year in high school when they sat near each other in Spanish class. Something sparked between them, but since both Kyrie and Tyler were in different relationships, they turned the spark into a casual high school friendship. As fate would have it, that wasn’t the end of their story. A year later, they found themselves side by side in a geometetry class and now, both single, their friendship started to grow. They started hanging out outside of school, and one night as they laid and looked at the Indiana stars above them, they decided they were dating.

Tyler and Kyrie’s laid-back, relaxed personalities and complete adoration for each other  made aspects of their relationship easy even though some would consider making it through nursing school, the military, and the growing pains of life nearly an impossible feat. And last winter, on a family trip, Tyler took Kyrie under the Christmas lights and asked her to be his wife. Finally, their hard work had paid off.

They’ll be married next summer in a low-key, laidback affair - so fitting to their personalities. We celebrated their engagement by wandering through the forests and lakes of Chain O’Lakes and taking the time to relax and enjoy the fall during the craziness of Kyrie’s last year of Nursing school. Kyrie and Tyler, I had such a joyful and relaxing time documenting your relationship and I’m so excited to witness your day next year! Counting down - xx, M

Two EE's Winery Engagement Session // Courtney + Seth

Two EE's Winery Engagement Session // Courtney + Seth

They were high school sweethearts - the kind where everyone around them thought they should be together long before they themselves admitted it. For such a long time, they were just friends. That was it. That was all they would ever be. Courtney’s bubbly and outgoing personality would not be a good match with Seth’s rather shy and laid-back demeanor. But in all reality, they were the perfect balance.

They spent the next handful of years supporting one another and being each other’s biggest cheerleaders. Even through the long distance and the weeks where life was a whirlwind, they were there for each other. No matter what, they met up for football games, tailgating, movie nights, and wine. It was only appropriate that after almost 7 years, that Seth handed Courtney a bottle of handmade wine with a custom-made label that depicted the two of them and the words “Will You Marry Me?” scripted on it.

Since Seth proposed with wine, we thought it was only appropriate to celebrate their engagement at a winery. They’ll be married next summer in front of the loved ones that have supported them all along. Courtney and Seth - I can’t wait to be there to celebrate with you and document the day! Counting down - xx, M

Bright and Colorful Downtown Fort Wayne Engagement Session // Becky and Michael

Bright and Colorful Downtown Fort Wayne Engagement Session // Becky and Michael

They sat on the couch, watching a movie, when Becky turned towards Michael and asked what they were. They had spent the last few months as close friends, hanging out for Lord of the Ring movie nights and bonding over takeout food. Just as suddenly as the friendship had originally started, they were dating. It wasn't long after that that both of them knew this was it - they were both in it for  the long haul. Michael, the easygoing, laid-back, humorous personality balanced Becky's planner heart, literal mind and Type A personality perfectly.

They bought a house with a hobbit door and started planning their life together. Becky, being the planner that she is, told Michael on the night of his 29th birthday that she'd like to be engaged in the next year. Almost a year later- on a trip up to Northern Michigan - in true easy-going Michael fashion, he asked Becky to be his wife on the day before his 30th birthday.

They'll be married next September in the transition of seasons under the elegant roof of Baker Street Train Station. Becky and Michael, exploring the alleys and landscapes of downtown with you was so much fun and I loved your idea of bringing balloons - seriously counting down until we are exploring downtown once again in just a few short months on your wedding day! xx- M

Romantic Franke Park Engagement Session // Grace + Adam

Romantic Franke Park Engagement Session // Grace + Adam

They initially met as coworkers and a friendship slowly sparked as they shared shifts and mutual work friends.  Over time, she realized that he wanted something more than the friendship they already shared. The way her eyes twinkled when she smiled and her outgoing personality swept him almost immediately off his feet.

But when Adam put himself out there and asked Grace out on a date, she initially turned him down. Adam didn't give up. He pushed and was patient, and finally Grace started to realize that the quiet and laid-back coworker took up more room in her heart than a typical friendship would. A few years later, they were sitting under the lights of the Christmas tree when Adam handed her the best gift of all - asking her to be his wife

We decided that it was only appropriate to celebrate their engagement with their four-month old Great Dane  - and holy cow she was cute! They'll be married next summer - a day they've been dreaming about for years - among the closest family and friends. Grace and Adam, thank you for toughing the weather and the chilliness, and I can't wait to document your day next summer! xx - M

Whimsical Autumn Wedding at The Sycamore at Mallow Run Winery // Kristin + Gabe

Whimsical Autumn Wedding at The Sycamore at Mallow Run Winery // Kristin + Gabe

When she walks into a room, it immediately brightens and smiles break out on the friends and families faces that surround her. Even in the most stressful, chaotic moments in life, Kristin pours her heart and soul into caring and protecting the ones she loves most. It was only fitting that she cross paths with Gabe, the guy who always had his teammates back and who is always up for a laugh, a group of friends, and an adventure. Even in the beginning stages of their relationship as juniors in high school, their family could see- this was different. Although they were just teenagers at the time, they supported and cheered each other on in the ways of life just like two old, mature souls would.

On the perfect, sunny autumn day, happy tears welled up in the eyes of Gabe, Kristen, and all of their witnesses as Gabe turned around to see the woman that held his heart walk down the aisle. From reading love letters in the vineyard just moments before their ceremony, to sneaking outside for a quiet moment under the market lights during the middle of the reception, Kristin and Gabe strived to cherish every moment throughout the day. As the last song of the evening played, they danced alone in the empty reception room as husband and wife. Finally.

Kristin and Gabe, spending the day with you was a complete fairytale - we felt so welcomed by your family and friends and it was such a privilege to document your day. Wishing you eternal years of happiness and lots of relaxing margaritas in Mexico - xx, M + A

Holcomb Gardens Engagement Session // Sarah + Kevin

Holcomb Gardens Engagement Session // Sarah + Kevin

She claims she first noticed him when he started leaning over to cheat off her papers in science class. While he readily denies the cheating, Kevin thanks his lucky stars that he happened to sit next to the smartest (and prettiest) girl in the class. A friendship soon sparked and Sarah started sharing homework tips instead of Kevin stealing them. They quickly blossomed into high school sweethearts and as graduation loomed in the distance they started planning how they would embark on the next chapter of their live by each others side.

They spent their college years attending Purdue football games, sporting the black and gold, and talking about their future. Through the post-college long-distance phase, with Kevin in Florida and Sarah in the Midwest, they remained steadfast and by each others side.  When they were finally reunited in the same state, on a drizzly July evening right before a Cubs game, Kevin nervously took Sarah to a rooftop restaurant in the heart of bustling Chicago and asked her to be his wife. Before he could even get all of the words out, Sarah screamed her answer with tears streaming down her cheeks.

They'll be married next summer after dreaming of the day since they met on day one. To say I'm excited is an understatement - Kevin and Sarah, you two are the bubbly and brightest souls and I can't wait to celebrate with you next summer when you finally tie the knot! Counting down the days - xx, M

Elegant Bergstaff Place Autumn Wedding // Jourdan and Trevor

Elegant Bergstaff Place Autumn Wedding // Jourdan and Trevor

Half a century ago, on a brisk autumn day, a young girl curled her hair as the love of her life buttoned his suit just a few rooms over. Never would they have thought that 50 years to the day later, their grandchild, Trevor, would be clasping hands with the girl of his dreams around the corner of the stairwell, praying for the marriage and the journey they were about to embark on.

It was a date that had been already celebrated in his family for generations, and as fate would have it, just the very day before, Trevor asked the brown-eyed girl out on their very first date. Five years and one day later, he watched her walk down the aisle as tears streamed down his cheeks. The seventh day of October held a special place in Jourdan and Trevors heart, and they couldn't think of a better way to celebrate their wedding and five year anniversary than to share the anniversary date with Trevors parents, grandparents, and great grandparents.

The day was beyond perfect, and they spend the hours bursting with joy at the fact that they were finally husband and wife. Five years of growing with one another, cheering each other on through exams and graduation, and supporting each other with the fullest hearts, the high school sweethearts were finally together for a lifetime. Jourdan and Trevor, the thought of your day still brings tears to my eyes and warms my heart - thank you for treating us like one of the family and being the kindest souls one could hope to document. Enjoy that hurricane free honeymoon, you two deserve it! xx, M&M

Joyful and Whimsical Goeglein's Homestead Wedding // Logan + Amber

Joyful and Whimsical Goeglein's Homestead Wedding // Logan + Amber

The day promised rain and dreariness, but nothing could wipe the glowing smile from Logan's face as he fastened his suit as rain dripped down the window. In just a few moments he would stand back-to-back with the Alabama girl that just so happened to sit behind him all those years ago in an accounting class. The bubbly hazel-eyed girl that he couldn't shake from his mind when he was on a blind date with another girl was now about to become his wife.

As Amber and Logan stood and read the love letters they wrote to each other, the rain held off and the tiniest sliver of sunshine peaked through the grey clouds. Tears rolled down both of their faces as they turned around and their eyes met for the first time on their wedding day. Everyone that day said that Amber and Logan were a match made in heaven, and it couldn't be more true. Only God could plan the crossed paths of an Indiana boy and an Alabama girl.  Logan's world revolves around Amber and he holds her with a protective, gentle embrace, and Amber would do anything for the man who makes her laugh until her sides hurt.

They celebrated their marriage in the same place where Logan held a diamond ring and asked his best friend to be his wife. The rain held off, happy tears streamed down friends and families faces, and Amber and Logan promised to stand by each others side for life. Amber and Logan, spending the day with you and your families was an incredible honor and you two could not be more perfectly matched for each other. Praying the rain keeps holding off as you enjoy those Mexico beaches! xx- M + C

Boho Industrial Wedding at The Brick // Samantha + Travon

Boho Industrial Wedding at The Brick // Samantha + Travon

Everyone who witnessed the small intimate ceremony that day all noticed, and already knew, the same thing - Samantha and Travon were unlike most couples. As two kids who met at the beginning of high school, they spent almost the next decade growing up together as best friends, confidants, cheerleaders, parents, and holding each others hearts. Their worlds revolved around each other and their daughter, and that's the only way Samantha and Travon could have ever imagined it.

Finally, after all the years of doing life together, they promised each other a lifetime of love and happiness below the market lights of a warehouse, surrounded by only the closest of family and friends. Even on the day that celebrated how far they had come and how far they would go, they spent the day hand-in-hand and strived to cherish every moment.

Samantha and Travon, witnessing and documenting your day was the greatest honor and I love how you love one another. I can't wait to see how you take life on as a team and how you take on the world side by side. All the love- M
