Elegant Embassy Theatre Wedding // Taylor + Andrew

Elegant Embassy Theatre Wedding // Taylor + Andrew

If you ask Andrew how they met, his face lights up and he tells the most animated story. Just a few years ago a pretty brunette walked into his dealership looking for a car. Something between them sparked immediately, and try as he might to keep it professional, they ended up on a dinner date when Taylor arrived back at the dealership with a car issue. The dinner dates continued, and before Taylor knew it, she witnessed the man of her dreams lead her out of a carriage ride to get down on one knee with a puppy and a diamond.

As they sat in rooms across the hall from one another, waiting for the ceremony to start, Taylor drank champagne and begged to get into her dress while Andrew prepped his tux and laughed with his guys. But while they were surrounded by people who loved them and were there to fully support them on their wedding day, Taylor and Andrew were only focused on one thing - seeing each other at the end of the aisle.

The sun shined over the downtown Fort Wayne as Taylor and Andrew promised to be each other's partners for life. Tears fell as they embraced, finally husband and wife. Finally together. They had spent their entire lives searching for that person that they could share the moment of Forever with, and they were finally sharing it with the one who held their heart.

Taylor and Andrew, documenting your love was the most incredible honor. I can't wait to watch your lives unfold as you support each other , love each other, and adventure with each other. Have fun sipping margs on the beach in Mexico, you two deserve it - xx, M&M

Huntington Sunken Gardens Engagement Session // Amber + Logan

Huntington Sunken Gardens Engagement Session // Amber + Logan

His friend begged and begged him to set him up on a blind date with the "perfect girl." Finally, Logan agreed. And as the blind date commenced, he left feeling indifferent and with his mind on the girl that sat behind him in the classroom at the local university. The bubbly hazel-eyed girl seemed fun, bright, and driven. So he made the move. But as much as Amber knew she wanted to date the man that made her laugh until her sides hurt, she knew it wasn't time.  As months progressed, they became good friends who met up for coffee, a good movie at the theater, and exploring Fort Wayne.

Friendship progressed to dating, and dating progressed to Amber getting a phone call one morning from Logan, explaining the rules and guidelines for the surprise he had planned on the unexpected Saturday. And as Amber explored Fort Wayne on the scavenger hunt, revisiting all their favorite spots that they frequented throughout the years, she knew something was up. When she finally reached Logan - standing in the middle of a garden at Goeglein's Homestead - he had a ring in his hand and a question on his lips.

They'll celebrate their wedding day this fall at the same place where they became engaged, surrounded by the family and friends that have supported them on this wonderful journey to marriage. Amber and Logan, thank you a ton for exploring Huntington with me, suffering through mosquitos and the heat. You are the best souls and I can't wait to celebrate with you in October! xx- M

Elegant Romantic Decatur Wedding // Kalie and Lance

Elegant Romantic Decatur Wedding // Kalie and Lance

It was the day that they had waited for for years. The day that Kalie didn't even imagine happening when she first whispered to her friend that the boy was cute and hoped that her friend would keep the secret. The day that Kalie didn't see coming, even when her friend spilled the beans to the cute boy and they started talking. But as conversations grew into dates and dates grew into a serious relationship, that "day" became more real in the back of Kalie's mind.

Years passed and just as her family and best friends witnessed the gorgeous beach proposal a year earlier, they stood and witnessed Kalie walk down the aisle with a look of pure joy as she met Lance at the altar.  After almost five years of being by each others side, they celebrated their everlasting promise by celebrating with the best friends and family the world could provide.

Kalie + Lance, celebrating with you on your greatest day was such an honor and beyond fun. Your family and friends welcomed us like long-time friends and we could not be more grateful. You two are the brightest souls. Thank you so much and have fun at Hogwarts this week! You could not have picked a more magical soulmate or honeymoon. xx- M+M

Whimsical Latin American Wedding at Salomon Farms // Kathleen + Santiago

Whimsical Latin American Wedding at Salomon Farms // Kathleen + Santiago

They fell in love amongst the colorful streets of Cartegena, Columbia. They were both studying abroad and caught each others eye one day in the middle of class. You could almost say it was love at first sight- something about the romance of the foreign city, the gorgeous sunsets on the beach, the brightly colored Columbian buildings and ability to explore and adventure together made Kathleen and Santiago's fall into a fast friendship, then into love, then into a proposal.

It was only fitting that Kathleen and Santiago's wedding represented the roots of their relationship. Kathleen and Santiago dropped little hints of Columbia, their love for Latin-American culture, and their love of travel into their day. But most importantly, their day represented them in the most pure and honest way. They weren't overwhelmed by tradition or fuss. They simply focused on their relationship and the family and friends that had supported them through the journey of being together.

Kathleen and Santiago, witnessing your pure and simple love was such a privilege. I can't wait to see where your wanderlusting hearts take you in life and the journeys you will go on. Eat your hearts out on that delicious Puerto Rican food for me - xx, M

Purdue Engagement Session // Dan and Jess

Purdue Engagement Session // Dan and Jess

She was the girl next door, sort of. They lived on the same block during their time at college and Dan would watch the bubbly education student from across the room and developed a crush. A big one. But Dan knew the timing wasn't right, and they graduated, parted ways, and fell out of touch. And as a few years passed, Jess looked down at her phone one day to discover a Tinder match and a message from the boy who used to live down the street. A few weeks later they sat at their favorite restaurant and talked the night away, bonding over sports, good beers, travel, and their Purdue school spirit.

As they stood underneath Sagrada Familia Basilica in Barcelona a year and a half later, Dan knelt down and pulled out a ring. He had known for so long that Jess was the one, and now the timing was right. They spent the next three weeks celebrating by touring Europe, dining at local European restaurants and dreaming of their life together.

Jess and Dan, it was so wonderful exploring Purdue with you and I'm so excited for your day in just a few short months! Excitedly counting down - xx, M

Fairytale Spring Wedding at Goeglein's Homestead // Megan and Nathan

Fairytale Spring Wedding at Goeglein's Homestead // Megan and Nathan

To say their souls collided when they first met would be an understatement. She was a student still grasping the ropes of the bustling hospital chaos when she walked out the door with a medical cart a little too fast. Before she knew it, she was helping a handsome brown-eyed nurse off the floor, apologizing profusely. And while the medical cart knocked the wind out of Nathan, it was the flustered blonde girl who caused his heart to skip a beat.

Over the next few weeks, Nathan picked up all the extra shifts he could in hopes that he would run into (not be run over) Megan again. And as he investigated further, they finally crossed paths again. As one thing led to another, they started talking, then dating, then falling in love. And the moment Megan watched her little girl run into Nathan's arms, seeking comfort and love, Megan knew that there would never be another man to hold her heart.

They envisioned their wedding day as a perfect fairytale and that's exactly what it was. Friends and family cheered and toasted as Megan and Nathan made their way to the dance floor, finally husband and wife, with the story of their fairytale just beginning. Megan and Nathan, it was the biggest joy documenting your day and I adore watching you light up eachothers lives. Drink a margarita in Florida for me. xx, M

Salomon Farms Spring Wedding // Rachel and Kenny

Salomon Farms Spring Wedding // Rachel and Kenny

It was the kind of day that called for a good classic novel and a cozy blanket. As rain drizzled down the windows, most brides would be beside themselves with worry. But not Rachel. As she watched the cool spring rain hit the pavement, she could only think of Kenny. The 7th grade classmate that turned from a boy she passed in the hallway, to friend, to her soulmate.

And as Kenny stood just a few hundred yards away, he could hardly believe that the girl who stole his heart in the hallways all those years ago was standing before him, soon to be his wife. As the thunder rolled in, Rachel and Kenny stood before their family and friends who had been trying to get them together since high-school and promised to support and cherish each other for the rest of time.

Kenny and Rachel, documenting your day was such an incredible blessing and privilege. I adored watching how deep your love was for one another, and I can't wait to see where life takes you. Thank you for being troopers through the rain and the mud! xx - M

Proposal Session at Pike's Peak in Colorado Springs // Josh and Phoenix

Proposal Session at Pike's Peak in Colorado Springs // Josh and Phoenix

He stood at the top of the mountain, looking out over the incredible view and was in awe. Josh, the man that claimed he could never be tied down, suddenly thought to himself that if he ever managed to find the perfect girl, that this would be the place where he would propose.

Five years later, he stood in the same spot with the girl that had stolen his heart just a short while after that first Colorado trip. And as they planned their Colorado vacation, Phoenix couldn't figure out why Josh kept insisting to make the long journey to the top of the mountain. But as they stood on the rocks overlooking the Colorado mountains, recreating a picture Josh had taken half a decade before (of just himself) he got down on one knee and asked her to marry him.

Josh and Phoenix, I'm ever so grateful and blessed to call you two friends and am so thankful that I was able to document this amazing moment. I can't wait to crack open the wedding magazines and the Pinterest boards, but even more so, I can't wait to see where life takes you. All the love, M.

Rustic Glam Wedding at Ceruti's Summit Park // Madison + Rodney

Rustic Glam Wedding at Ceruti's Summit Park // Madison + Rodney

She took a deep breath and closed her eyes as tears rolled down her cheeks. In just a few moments, she would walk up to the man she shared hallways with in high school, tap him on the shoulder, and they would see each others faces for the first time on their wedding day. As Rodney stood waiting to meet his bride, he mentioned his nerves and how he was just focused on the gorgeous blue-eyed girl. With her in his mind and in his heart, everything else melted away. And as the sun shone for the first time in weeks, Rodney watched the girl that stole his heart in the snowy winter evening all those years ago walk down the aisle to become his wife.

As champagne was poured and toasts were made, Madison and Rodney's family and friends spoke volumes on how Madison and Rodney were perfect for each other. It couldn't be more true. Rodney's calm, quieter demeanor balances Madison's bubbly and detailed personality. Rodney's heart and soul are completely dedicated to Madison and Madison looks at Rodney like he holds the world in the palm of his hands.

Rodney and Madison, documenting your love was the greatest honor and I feel so blessed to witness the relationship that you two have built. I cannot wait to see where your life takes you and I hope you ate your fill of Key Lime Pie in those gorgeous Florida Keys. xx- M & M

Indianapolis Rooftop Boho Chic Wedding at JPS Events // Elise + Ryan

Indianapolis Rooftop Boho Chic Wedding at JPS Events // Elise + Ryan

Elise described their relationship, finding each other, and knowing each other as soulmates to be incredibly calming. No anxiety, no agitation. And from the moment she first saw Ryan, this is how she would describe their relationship. She has never questioned that he was the person she wanted to spend her life with, and was more sure of it everyday.

During their vows, Ryan looked at her with the softest gaze and told her that this was just another day. Another day that he got to hold her in her arms, another day he got to see her smile, and another day he got to share his life with her. And while their wedding day was special because of the significance it held, today was the same as every other day because it was one more day that he got to love her with all of his heart and soul.

Everyone you asked on that day said the same thing: Ryan and Elise had a heart for others. They poured themselves selflessly into their work, friendships, family, and their own relationship. Even on their wedding day, it was about the people that surrounded them - from the love notes they wrote eachother that were read mid-ceremony, to sitting with their parents and grandparents at the head table, toasting the night away, they focused on being together and in the midst of the closest family and friends one could have.

Elise and Ryan, I could not be more grateful for the privilege of documenting your day, and more importantly, witnessing the incredible bond that you two have. I can't wait to see where life takes you, and enjoy that tropical sun for me! xx - M & M

Fairytale Wedding at The Philmore on Broadway // Fairren & Mason

Fairytale Wedding at The Philmore on Broadway // Fairren & Mason

If one word needed to be used to describe Fairren and Mason, it would be laughter. And that's exactly what rung throughout The Philmore rainy Saturday morning as Fairren and Mason prepared to spend their lives together. After years of creating a life together and two years of planning, their wedding day was finally here. The once upon a time classmates were about to see each other from across the aisle, surrounded by family and friends who had supported them through their journey.

Fairren and Mason envisioned a fairytale day for their wedding and that's exactly what it was. They read their own vows as tears streamed down their faces. Friends and family toasted their life together, talking about how Mason's calm demeanor, gentle laugh, and comforting temperament complimented Fairren's bright, bubbly and warm personality. They promised to spend their lives together, even though that's what they've already done for so many years.

Fairren and Mason, your wedding day made my heart so warm and I cannot thank you enough for giving me the honor of documenting your day. I can't wait to see where your lives take you - xx, M

Downtown Cincinnati Engagement Session // Shelby and Stephen

Downtown Cincinnati Engagement Session // Shelby and Stephen

They explore the city, trying all the latest breweries, eclectic speak-easies, and restaurants. They travel. They run marathons. They started dating in high-school, but everyone around them knew this wasn't a typical high-school relationship. This was different. Stephens humor balances out Shelby's more serious personality, while Shelby keeps Stephen grounded. Since high school, they've supported each other through a long-distance relationship through college, to job changes, to relocating just to be with one another.

In true explorer fashion, Stephen proposed to Shelby as they were exploring Nashville on a February evening.  As he got to one knee on the pedestrian bridge over the water, Shelby couldn't imagine saying yes to anyone else other than her best friend and high school sweetheart.

As we roamed Cincinnati, Shelby and Stephen pointed out their favorite hole-in-the-wall eateries and pubs and where they met up with friends. They'll get married in their hometown, Fort Wayne, this fall, surrounded by humans who have supported them through the near decade of being with one another. Shelby and Stephen, I had an absolute blast exploring Cincinnati with you and I'm so excited for documenting your first day as husband + wife. xx - M

The Old Bag Factory Whimsical Romantic Wedding // Sarah + Alex

The Old Bag Factory Whimsical Romantic Wedding // Sarah + Alex

She's the girl who puts her heart and soul into everything she does - from who she loves, to her job, to planning the wedding day of her dreams. No detail was left untouched. As the sun rose on their wedding day- as the bridesmaids had their dresses pressed and arranged on personalized hangers, as the ceremony and reception rooms were adorned with pictures, love quotes, flowers and candles, as her garter (made from generations of wedding gowns and inscripted with their own wedding date) lay with her jewelry and custom-made wedding dress (that she designed when she was ten)- Sarah told me, "I'm just trying to focus on marrying Alex."   And as the sunny spring morning rolled into a breezy warm afternoon, Sarah walked down the petal covered aisle to the man who held her heart for all these years.

When Sarah and I first met, she told me that their wedding day would feel like finishing the first leg of a triathlon. And as they stood at the alter with Sarah's father marrying them, that's exactly what it was. After all of the years of school, the military, long-distance dating and uprooting their lives to finally be together, they were finally married. And it's safe to say, as they finished the first leg of that race, there was not a dry eye in the room.

Sarah and Alex, oh boy. My heart is so warm for you and I cannot thank you enough for letting me document your day. Alex, you treat Sarah with such devotion and Sarah, you constantly affirm him with love, praise, and affection. You two make love so real and beautiful. I can't wait to see where life takes you, and I hope you're soaking in the sun on that Hawaiian beach - you deserve it! xx, M+C

Urban Fort Wayne Sunrise Engagement Session // Samantha and Trevon

Urban Fort Wayne Sunrise Engagement Session // Samantha and Trevon

They were close friends who connected through youth group at their church. That was, untill one day when Trevon found a love note addressed to him on Samantha's iPad. After a "just friends" conversation, they found themselves dating just a few months later. Trevon's palpable energy matched Samantha's dimples that broke just as she was on the edge of a smile. They were just teenagers, but immediately started growing up together hand-in-hand.

We opted for an urban warehouse vibe for their engagement session to match their vision for the wedding, and they spend the session hand-in-hand, talking about careers and personal stories like they had just recently met. After spending nearly a decade together, going through personal trials, college, career, and building a family, they'll get married this fall with an intimate urban setting surrounded by close family and friends. Samantha and Trevon, thank you for granting me the pleasure of getting to know you more and exploring the city with me on a cold (and early) morning! I can't wait to see what October and so many years ahead has in store for you - xx, M

MEET Madi! Indigo Lace Collective's Newest Associate Photographer

MEET Madi! Indigo Lace Collective's Newest Associate Photographer

I don't even know how to start out this blog post because I'm SO excited to introduce you to Indigo Lace Collective's newest associate!  When Madi and I first met, she was the little sister of my dear friend. As I shot his wedding, I distinctly remember her saying how much she wanted me to photograph her wedding someday. We accomplished that goal this past October when she married her best friend - they are seriously the most perfect couple, guys.

Even back in October, I never would have dreamed that six months later Madi would be the newest ILC sidekick. But winter brought in so many bittersweet changes - my dear sister and former associate, Jamaica, had to part ways with ILC to follow her path and dreams in life. And while I'm so sad to see her go and SO excited to see what the future holds for her, it was time to start the search for someone who could fill the shoes.

Initially, this was such a daunting and stressful task. It was hard for me to believe that there was someone out there who would adore and care for my clients with the same passion I had. But Madi fell into place like a missing piece of a puzzle. I can't wait for all my 2017 and 2018 clients to see how bright Madi's soul is. She is full of creative passion and energy. For now, she'll be shooting alongside me for a second perspective during weddings. The future, however, is full of possibilities for her to take on ILC weddings solo if I'm booked or to cater to a couple's tighter budget.

As excited I am to introduce Madi to the world and my beloved clients, I'm going to stop the ranting and let her tell you a bit about herself:

Winter Downtown Engagement Session // Lyndsey and Jake

Winter Downtown Engagement Session // Lyndsey and Jake

It was the conversations on the school bleachers when they knew this was different. They had known each other all through high school and shared mutual friends. But something about that conversation, a year after Jake had graduated and in the middle of Lyndsey's senior year, as they sat, reconnecting, that they knew. They knew that this was different than every other conversation they had ever had. They knew that something about that conversation held a vision of a future and a promise of living the rest of their lives together.

From then on, they relentlessly supported each other. Through job changes, nursing school, and the beginning of a family, they never left each other's side. Lyndsey is the type of girl who has the world at her feet and the biggest dreams in her heart. And Jake is the perfect compliment to Lyndsey - supportive, patient, and the sense of humor that can light up Lyndsey's face. Their next chapter will begin in July with the best day surrounded by family, friends, and their son. Lyndsey and Jake, thank you from the bottom of my heart for braving that cold weather :) Counting down the days until your WARM wedding day! xx- M

Notre Dame University Engagement Session // Sarah + Alex

Notre Dame University Engagement Session // Sarah + Alex

Sarah claims that they first "met" when they sat together at the lunch table during their years at the small-town high school. But if you ask Alex, there is zero recollection. All he knows is that he was utterly speechless the moment Sarah walked out of her house to greet him for their first date. So speechless that he forgot to say hello, to walk up to the door, to open the car door for her. The only thing that was racing through his mind was his disbelief that he never noticed this stunning, bubbly blonde woman that supposedly sat at his lunch table all those years.

From then on, Sarah and Alex started making love a choice. A choice to spend the majority of their relationship thousands of miles apart. A choice to be partners through school, the military, and all the changes that life offers post high-school. A choice to search for internships, jobs, and opportunities that were near the others home so they could be together and uproot even when nothing was set in stone. A choice to take leaps of faith, to fight for the relationship, and to climb every mountain hand-in-hand, even when that meant not seeing each other for months at a time.

Sarah told me that their wedding day will feel like finishing the first leg of a triathlon. And I couldn't agree more. As we explored Notre Dame on the cold, wintery day, their contagious laughter and constant cuddles emanated overflowing joy from finally being together, at last. They'll be married in April at the Old Bay Factory surrounded by the family and friends that have supported them through this long journey. Sarah and Alex, I so adored your fits of laughter and playfulness during your engagement session. Thank you for bearing the winter chills with me and powering through it! You made my job hopelessly easy and I'm counting down the days to the wedding where I can watch your relationship unfold into the best ever love story. Just a few more months! - xx, M

Best of Love and Adventure // 2016

Best of Love and Adventure // 2016

I say this every year. But 2016 was a really big year. Really big. And wonderful. And full of love. I met so many amazing couples who poured out their heart and souls to me, let me document their biggest days and their quietest moments.

I end this year having done three destination weddings - traveling from Colorado to Michigan to Virginia - documenting 24 weddings and being two weddings away from being fully booked for 2017. I am speechless and blessed. While I will sorely miss eating wedding cake every weekend, I look forward to relaxing Saturdays and sleepy Sundays that aren't spent recovering from the 12 hour day before. It's time for recharging, some rebranding, and a bit of growth.

My husband and I were able to travel to Florida, Colorado, Utah, Arizona, and New Mexico this year. I shared a bit of the photos here, because I love traveling and documenting the world just as much as I love documenting people in love.

I'm beyond excited and anxious to kick off 2017 weddings- which contains some truly magical couples who are about to have the most wonderful weddings ever. And if you're dreaming of exploring a distant land for your wedding, I still have yet to book a destination wedding and am chomping at the bit (check out the bucket list here). But for now, let's toast to 2016 and all of these bright souls who fell in love.  xx - Morgan

Whimsical Botanical Gardens Elopement // Abby + Danny

Whimsical Botanical Gardens Elopement // Abby + Danny

They bought rings on a Friday. She found her dress on a Sunday. Only the closest family gathered around them on a Tuesday- just an average Tuesday.  It was cold and blustery, like most December days in Fort Wayne are. But for a little boy, a little girl, and two people in love, it was the most magical day of their lives. The family that had been built over the past 7 years - the family that had been a family in their hearts all along- finally became one with a few simple vows and two stunning rings.

As they stood under the Christmas trees at the Botanical Conservatory, Danny and Abby promised a lifetime to each other. Danny held his daughter as she cried tears of joy - and she wasn't the only one. Not a single parent, sibling, or grandparent had a dry eye. They were the select few to witness the magical moment when Danny and Abby became husband and wife. As Danny held Abbys dress as they walked through the gardens, taking the first moments of husband and wife and cherishing them to the very fullest, they reminisced over the past seven years and the life that they had built.

They'll celebrate with a backyard party next summer among the best of family and friends, florals grown by Abby herself, lots of champagne and even more love. Danny and Abby, witnessing your day was truly the greatest honor, and I loved watching your marriage come to life. I wish you nothing but a lifetime of happiness as a family - xx, M

Elegant Glam Wedding at Empyrean Events // Hilary + Drew

Elegant Glam Wedding at Empyrean Events // Hilary + Drew

Every speech, every toast, every compliment from the wedding guests said the same thing - Hilary and Drew were a perfect match. From the time they were in kindergarten, something more was lined up for their futures than just pictures in an old school yearbook. They grew up by each others side but never realized how much each of their lives was individually shaping them to be a part of the others. Hilary grew to be a mature, caring, and loving woman and Drew grew to be an inquisitive, determined, and fun-loving man. As Hilary's father put it in his teary-eyed toast - Hilary makes Drew more mature and Drew makes Hilary enjoy and love life to it's fullest.

Friends and family came from across oceans to witness the inseparable bond Hilary and Drew made on their wedding day. Laughter and loud, warm conversations flooded the rooms of Empyrean Events as people looked out over the Fort Wayne skyline. Toasts upon toasts were made, champagne was drunk, and mini pizzas were handed out to the late-night celebrators. The day was a impeccable reflection of their love and the love for those around them - warm, joyous, and perfect.

Hilary and Drew, I cannot express enough what an honor it was to document your day and to be a part of your families and lives for one, single day. Your kindness warmed my heart and I cannot wait to see where life takes you. Sip a margarita in Maui for me! - xx, M
